The LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5 is a versatile telephoto lens that rounds off the new lens speed class of Summarit-M lenses. Despite being much more handy and lighter than the comparable 90 mm Summicron lens, it offers outstanding optical and mechanical quality.

LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5 lens is a perfect demonstration of how Leica's Summarit-M class is setting new standards in spherical lens design. A Leica M camera with a LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5 fitted is an extremely compact and handy unit. Compared to other 90 mm focal length lenses, there is hardly any intrusion into the viewfinder image.

The LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5 is a versatile telephoto lens that rounds off the new lens speed class of Summarit-M lenses.Despite being much more handy and lighter than the comparable 90 mm Summicron lens, it offers outstanding optical and
mechanical quality. Even at full aperture, this lens demonstrates excellent imaging capability with outstanding contrast over the
entire image field. A slight reduction in quality can only be seen in the corners - which are not even captured by the slightly smaller
format of the digital LEICA M8 - but even this can be improved significantly by stopping down to f/5.6.

LEICA SUMMARIT-M 90 mm f/2.5 user reviews

"I had the chance to handle this fine M-mount rangefinder camera portrait (short telephoto) lens at this year's Photo Plus East and came away quite impressed with it. It focuses nearly as quickly as my APO-Summicron-M lens, but, better yet, offers a level of a performance that is as good as, if not better, than Leica's top-of-the-line fast 90mm lens at a significant savings. I saw some superb demonstration photographs taken with this lens, including a fine black and white portrait that is notable for its rich tonality (vivid blacks and whites, with very high contrast). If there is only one negative feature that I don't like about the 90mm Summarit-M lens, then it is this: it lacks a built-in lens hood (The lens hood must be purchased separately too.). Those in search of a cheaper alternative to the 90mm APO-Summicron lens won't be disappointed at all.
