LEICA SUMMILUX-R 50 mm f/1.4 Overview A high-speed lens with extraordinary richness of image contrast over the entire aperture range. Even wide open at f/1.4 its performance is exemplary and perfectly useable. Stopping down by one or two apertures improves the initially high imaging quality only to a minor degree. And the wide f/1.4 aperture provides a very bright, crisp viewing image and enhances the ability to use selective focus. In addition to the outstanding optical qualities of this standard 50mm lens, it also offers a great deal of operational flexibility based on its high speed and compact size.

For a lens of such high speed, the LEICA SUMMILUX-R 50 mm f/1.4 achieves extraordinary image performance and high contrast across the entire focusing range. The wide-open aperture of f/1.4 is a fully functional working aperture. Stopping the lens down by one or two stops enhances its high performance. By setting the lens at f/1.4, composition can be influenced creatively by the reduced depth of field. Because of its great speed and compact size, this lens adds much flexibility to the outstanding working characteristics of the standard 50 mm focal length.

LEICA SUMMILUX-R 50 mm f/1.4 user reviews

"This is simply the best 50mm ever made. The contrast at fullaperture is significantly higher than the Canon 50mm f/1.4.The bokeh is creamy and out of this world. The focus isbuttery smooth. For those without a Leica R body, the lens can be used onmost Canon bodies via a Leica R to Canon EOS adapter.
